Math app for students and teachers
This project focuses on how a mathematics app can be used to support teachers' work with planning and developing students' number sense.
The focus in this project is on a specific app, Vektor, which is already used by teachers in mainly grades 1-3. On the one hand, the app is analyzed with regard to the mathematical content number sense, and on the other hand, teachers' experiences of using the app are analyzed. By identifying critical aspects for teachers' integration of the app in mathematics teaching, the project contributes with knowledge that concerns the applicability of the app for planning and teaching number sense, as well as teachers' competence development.
Based on the results, a more general tool will also be produced. The tool is intended as support for teachers in the collegial work of using and evaluating apps and other teaching materials, as well as for planning and evaluating teaching.
The budget for this research project amounts to SEK 398,000, where Mid Sweden University and the municipality of Örnsköldsvik contributes with equal parts.
