Pupil Health from Multiple Perspectives
Pupil health is a shared responsibility involving many actors. This project explores how pupils, guardians, and school staff understand pupil health work, as well as the similarities and tensions between different perspectives, with the aim of contributing to more inclusive pupil health practices.
The Pupil Health from Multiple Perspectives project aims to develop knowledge about how pupil health work is perceived, understood, and experienced by key actors in compulsory school: pupils, guardians, and school staff, including professionals working within pupil welfare teams. The project is based on the premise that pupil health work is a shared and complex undertaking that extends beyond individual professions and organisational functions, and that different actors may hold differing, and sometimes conflicting, understandings of responsibilities, roles, and the purposes of this work.
Through a qualitative study based on letter writing, this project will gather reflections from those involved in pupil health work. The material will be analysed with a focus on common themes, variations, and tensions both between and within perspectives. The project is carried out in close collaboration between Mid Sweden University and participating municipalities and schools and includes joint meetings for the exchange of experiences and knowledge.
The project is expected to generate findings that are relevant from both scientific and professional perspectives. Scientifically, the study will contribute to educational research by bringing together the perspectivs of pupils, guardians, and school staff on pupil health work. From a practice-oriented perspective. the project is expected to provide schools and school authorities with a foundation for the continued development of more inclusive and sustainable approaches to pupil health work.
