The dog as a resource in healthcare, social care and school, 2.0
Social service dogs as a resource in municipal operations, how does it work? New target group and more project participants!
The research project will examine how interaction with social therapy dogteam affects individuals' health, well-being, relationship-building, sense of security, anxiety levels, communication, activity, and sleep, among other factors. The aim is to increase understanding of the dog as a resource and its potential as a tool within healthcare, social care, and school environments.
In the Municipality of Härnösand, a new target group is joining the project: students aged 7–12 years old at a special resource school where social-service dogs are present in the school environment. The focus will be on health and well-being, school attendance, and reading. Participants in the project include the principal, school staff, students, and social-service dogs with their handlers.
