For the autumn semester of 2026, applications for studies at Mid Sweden University's campuses have increased by 12.3 percent, from 7,515 applicants in 2025 to 8,438 applicants in 2026. One of the programmes that has attracted is the newly established social work programme that will start in Sundsvall.

Mid Sweden University's research group SEE has been granted just over SEK 3 million from Vinnova for a project that will investigate how AI changes roles and ways of working in software development and develop new methodology for large-scale industrial software production.
