I finished my PhD at Umeå University in 2001 and became an associate professor in Social Work in 2008.

Forskningsområden

Specialist Fields
Social network relations, Social support, Social capital. Mixed methods and Qualitative Research Design.

Research projects
My interest in social network relations and conditions for informal social support exchange is influenced by the fact that the major changes that have taken place in public welfare policy involve shifts of responsibility between formal and informal structures of support provision. In different projects, have I together with colleagues, examined the support capacity of social network relations and how this capacity is linked to welfare policy institutions and norms of support. One project investigates the social dimensions of informal financial support for people living in poverty or experiencing acute economic crises. Another project investigates how long-term illness affects and changes social relationships.
