ENM‑NSP Eco‑nanocellulosic materials
This research project will focus on eco-friendly engineering on ligno and nanocellulosic materials for new sustainable products.
The transformation from fossil fuels to renewable raw materials is important to ensure economic.
In Sweden is the most abundant renewable raw material on earth plant material, such as lignocellulose, and it is an obvious choice to replace fossil raw materials. Good access to forest resources provides opportunities to produce the raw material and integrate it into the new green chemistry processes. The project is based on the innovative and environmentally friendly engineering knowledge of lignocellulose to create high-value products. The project aims to maximize the value of forest products by developing high-value products that have at least the same features and price as today's fossil-based products.
Objectives of nano-cellulose to high-value products
1. Take out nano-cellulose and nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) with the help of organic catalysis.
2. Completed new organocatalyst reactions at the nano-cellulose materials and NCC.
3. Performed organocatalyst "click" reactions on the nanoscale cellulose and NCC which uses metal-free catalysts and ultraviolet light.
4. Introduce cat-ions and anions at the nano-cellulose materials using green chemistry.
5. Formation of super-strong, lightweight and hydrophobic barrier materials from NCC through organic catalysis.
6. Characterization of the surface-modified nano-cellulose and light materials.
7. Scale up above green chemistry for industrial production.
8. Test the green technology and implement the TetraPak products.
9. Characterization of the properties of the packaging material.
10. Improve the specific properties of packaging materials ethylene.
11. At least two new environmentally friendly products on the world market.
12. Form a company around this concept when the project is finished.
Objectives of the lignin into high value products
1. Perform environmentally friendly processes and oxidations for selective degradation of lignin from different sources.
2. To convert lignin into a high-quality product that Capsaicin by catalytic green chemical reactions.
3. To convert the lignin into a high-quality product like vanillin in high yield of our organic catalysis.
4. Linking our selective degradation of lignin with its conversion to a lignin-based fuel.
5. Making bio-based plastics through our green chemistry.
6. Scale up all these reactions to industrial scale.
7. At least 3 new environmentally friendly products on the world market.
8. Form a company around this concept when the project is finished.
The project also contributes to a healthy environment and the integration of people, regardless of ethnicity, gender and religion perception. The region has a strong forest industry skills with the ability to create value from a regional biomass.
