Licentiate seminar
A licentiate seminar is the occasion when the doctoral student publicly defends his or her thesis. Decisions on licentiate seminars are made by the dean based on a proposal from the research faculty. The licentiate seminar shall be held within term time and only one licentiate seminar shall be held per day within the faculty.
A licentiate seminar is called a half-time seminar when the licentiate student intends to continue working on his or her thesis towards a doctoral degree and public defence.
Instructions for licentiate seminars
In order for the application for a licentiate seminar to be handled by the faculty office, the application must be prepared and planned well in advance. Only one licentiate seminar or dissertation is allowed to be held on a given day.
For a complete description of the procedures for public defences at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media, please refer to the procedure description below.
Contact the printing house, vaktmasteriet.svl@miun.se, as soon as the date for the licentiate seminar is booked. Periodically, many people are going to print their theses, so it can be difficult to get a time for printing that fits the planned degree date. If you have to change the date for printing/proofing, you must make sure that the printing company is informed of this so that they can change their planning.
