Digital textbooks in practice
The study focuses on students' learning and motivation in science education and mathematics teaching with the aim to find critical factors for successful teaching with digital teaching aids. Both teachers' and students' perspectives are included in the research project.
The project will be implemented in schools that use digital textbooks in the teaching of mathematics or science. The study is expected to result in teaching development by facilitating the choice of teaching materials and that teachers to a greater extent can take into account the merits and shortcomings of teaching materials in the teaching. The study is also expected to provide a general knowledge production about teaching with digital textbooks.
The project is carried out in four parts:
- Planning of teaching with an inventory of teaching materials and data collection where we take part of teachers' planning of teaching,
- Implementation of teaching with data collection during teaching and in follow-up interviews with students and teachers,
- Analysis of collected data where the analysis is done based on design theory and theories of motivation and finally
- Accounting with reporting and evaluation.
