What methods are used in schools within the area of Sexuality, Consent and Relationships?
Sexuality, consent and relationships are important for young people’s health, safety and well-being. Despite being included in school curricula since 2022, there is limited knowledge about how the teaching is delivered and which methods are used.
Sexuality, consent and relationships are central to young people’s health, safety and well-being, and schools play an important role in providing students with the knowledge and conditions needed to develop healthy relationships. Although Sexuality, Consent and Relationships (SSR) has been included in school curricula since 2022, there is limited knowledge about how this area is actually taught and which methods are used. This study therefore explores, from students’ perspectives, which teaching methods are used in Year 9 and upper secondary school.
The data have already been collected but have not yet been analysed. The dataset comprises approximately 300 Year 9 students and approximately 1,300 upper secondary school students (Years 1–3).
A specific aim and research questions will be developed in collaboration with the supervisor. An analysis plan will likewise be developed together with the supervisor. The data will preferably be analysed using SPSS under the supervision of the supervisor.
We prefer that 2 students work together in this project.
